Review (31:31):

Today, we review The Host (2006), a critical and commercial hit in South Korea and abroad. It comes from director and screenwriter Bong Joon-ho and centers around a family’s quest to retrieve their lost child from the clutches of a giant mutant fish-monster, while battling a dysfunctional and oppressive bureaucracy, and slowly growing into better versions of themselves.

  1. This cast made me rewatch this movie, really even better than the first time.
    What can I say?
I’ll just recommend others south koreans movies/directors.

From Bong Joon-ho we have “Memories of Murder”, and “Mother”.
From Kim Jee-woon “The Quiet Family”, “A Tale of Two Sisters”
    , “A Bittersweet Life”.
And I would very like to especially recommend “Secret Sunshine” from Lee Chang-dong.

All very entertaining movies, the koreans are specialists in this “omg every gone to shit” genre.

  2. So glad you liked it! It really is a film worth revisiting. Those are some great suggestions, too — thank you. Regrettably, while I have heard of, I have not seen any of those films, but they look like great potential picks for future episodes.
